Bio: Danny and Susan started life and ministry together in 1981. They have three grown children and two grandchildren. When they met, Danny was the pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he served for twelve and a half years. Danny moved the family to Lynchburg, Virginia and directed the pastoral training program at Liberty University as the Dean of the Seminary while Susan taught in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department until 2005. At that time, Danny and Susan headed south to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he served as the President of Tennessee Temple University and pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church. Now, they begin a new adventure in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Church at Chelsea-Westover. This burden and dream for a church plant along the growing 280 corridor was sparked by David and Christie Wilson, Servpro owners and former church members at Open Door Baptist Church. The core group is growing together in love and fellowship, praying for God’s plan to be accomplished through His people in the Chelsea-Westover area. The Shelby County Baptist Association, Alabama Baptists and the North American Mission Board are jointly supporting this new church plant!

David served as the Church Administrator for the Church at Chelsea-Westover. He and his wife Christie were instrumental in using what God had blessed them with to start the Church at Chelsea-Westover at their Servpro Regional Training Center in Westover, Alabama. David came to believe a very long time that he is a follower of Christ (Christian) who happened to own his own business. Thus he was a “Christian” businessman. God has given the Wilson’s a tremendous platform in Servpro to proclaim His gospel. He has been able to broaden that opportunity by serving the Lord in the Church Administrator capacity at the Church at Chelsea-Westover.
David counted it a privilege and honor to serve the Lord and his people in this capacity.
Sonya serves as the Children’s Director at The Church at Chelsea-Westover. She and her family have been blessed to be a part of CCW since the beginning. Sonya gave her life to Christ at age 9 and continues to share with others the life changing power of the gospel. She considers it an honor to serve on this staff and is consistently in awe of God’s provision for the Children’s Ministry here at CCW.

Bio: I was raised in a very loving Christian home and saved at the age of 5. I am very thankful for my Godly parents that raised me to be who I am today. As a teenager I felt God calling me to serve him, but I wasn’t sure how or where he wanted me to go. I just knew I wanted to be in God’s will. After I graduated high school I went to the University of Montevallo to get my degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. After I obtained my degree and married Jason, I never felt satisfied when I talked about teaching. When a position came open at our church for a Preschool and Children’s Director, I finally knew what God had in store for me! For the next 10 years I served at North Shelby Baptist Church where I learned a great deal about my abilities in leading children to know God’s love. After my 10 ten years of ministry at this church, I felt God leading me to pursue a new place to serve. I am so thankful that my whole family and I can serve here at CCW together. We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us. The Lord definitely has His hand on this church!
Deidra Brown is a pharmacist and a medical missionary, using medicine as a tool to reach people with the good news of Jesus. She organizes and leads short term medical mission teams to third world countries to facilitate sharing the gospel. In 2012, she joined a church planting team in the establishment of The Church at Chelsea-Westover, where she continues to serve as the Missions Coordinator, mobilizing the church for sharing the gospel at home through service projects and abroad through medical clinics. Her goal is to reach people for Christ and to enable church members to experience missions first hand through short term projects. The world is looking for answers, for peace, and for healing. As a pharmacist, she takes The Prescription, Jesus Christ, to a hurting world.

I grew up here in Chelsea and attended Chelsea High School. I became Pastor Danny’s assistant in May 2014, and I am very excited to be a part of what God is doing here at The Church at Chelsea- Westover. Jeremiah 29:11- Says” I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future.” I am looking forward to my future with the Lord, my growing family and with my CCW family.

Sylvester gave his life to Christ at very young age while attending the Wilson Chapel A.M.E in Grove Hill, AL. He is a retired Army Veteran that served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. While in the Army, he served on the Deacon Board in The Church of God in Christ in West Germany and Raleigh, N.C. Sylvester’s last assignment was in Birmingham, AL where he attended the Worship Center and served on the prayer and evangelism ministries. During his tenure at the Worship Center, Sylvester was lead by God to attend Southeastern Bible College where he received a B.A. in Ministry Leadership. In early 2013, Sylvester had an inspiring conversation with Pastor Danny Lovett and was impressed with his vision for the church. Shortly after, Sylvester joined the church and began serving on the ministry team.
Born into a Christian family. Both grandfathers were pastors. Grew up in Japan as a missionary kid. Got “saved” many times growing up. But it never became real. Was not a Christian when I came to Birmingham. Did not want to come to Alabama in fact but was desperate for a job. I came to help build a church. That was the last place I wanted to be. While working on the job with the pastor, he presented the gospel in such a way that it made sense. I got saved in November of 1976 and have been growing ever since.
